The Appalachian experience

There seems to be an upsurge in interest in Appalachia recently. Of all the blogs i read about our region, it seems the best ones have experienced more readership for the most part. As Dave Tabler, who does the 'Appalachian History' blog said to me in a comment here, it seems more people are showing an interest. And i think he is right in the fact that our blogs will never receive millions of visitors, as some do about other subjects. But that is to be expected. Alot of the people who browse the inet are looking for hot topics, entertainment, and juicy gossip. But it is refreshing to see many visitors to Appalachian sites from all over the world. It sure gives this ol hillbilly a sense of pride everytime a visitor arrives from one of the search engines to view an article here. I know that most don't take the time to leave a comment. But the fact that they took the time to check out the particular subject is reward enough.
