The 2009 Kentucky Christmas season promises to have activities and festivals for everyone

Southern Lights is a great tradition in Lexington. The family strolls through the Lexington Horse Park to enjoy three miles of color, lights and themed displays. This also includes railroad displays, Santa Claus, musical shows, an exotic petting zoo and pony rides. The dates are November 20 to December 31, from 5:30 to 10:00 pm. Fees range from $15.00 to $125.00, depending on the vehicle size.

Kentucky Christmas Chorus (Free)

Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky



Hundreds of Christmas carolers and spectators join together for an evening of caroling as Rupp Arena hosts the Kentucky Christmas Chorus on December 15, 2009 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Area choirs including the Lexington Philharmonic lead the sing-along at this free Christmas event.

Carriage Rides (Free)

Free carriage rides from Triangle Park through downtown Lexington allow participants a beautiful view of the city decorated in its holiday finery. Free rides are offered November 27, December 4, 11 and 18, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Back to Bethlehem: A Christmas Experience for Families (Free)

Immanuel Baptist Church, Lexington, Kentucky



Immanuel Baptist Church invites young families to step back in time to experience the town of Bethlehem on the night of Christ's birth. This interactive experience features shepherds watching their flocks and vendors tending their goods in the marketplace along the streets of the town. The Immanuel Baptist Church offers this free Christmas event on December 5, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
